Chapter 5
Midna had never seen Link run so fast. Even at her fastest flying speed she struggled to keep up. Ahead of her Link was moving at such a high speed, his legs were screaming agony at him. His shock grew as he entered Faron Woods. The destruction had spread here, the grass looked like hay, the rock faces were half demolished. He approached the spring to see Faron lying on his side, breathing heavily. “I couldn’t stop her” he panted.
Midna caught up to Link who was checking Faron’s injuries. “What happened here?” he asked, as a panting Midna sat down on a near by rock.
“She attacked me with powerful dark magic, she killed Ordon, I couldn’t see her, but I could hear her” he said as he breathed his last breath and slowly faded away into nothingness. Link couldn’t believe that anything could’ve killed the spirits. He dashed off again towards Ordon, Midna flying after him.
Link dashed through the path into Ordon. His house was on fire. He charged down the path to the main village. Midna following behind. The rest of the village burned, people lay on the ground. It looked just like the fields. Tears welled up in Link’s eyes. They were all dead. Colin lay on the ground, a sword by his side, Link’s Ordon Sword. He was still alive, but barely. “He, he, he” a voice laughed. Link spun round to see Ilia step out the shadows. “Due to my kindness, that little brat still lives” she cackled.
“Ilia? You did this? How could you?” yelled Link. He picked up Colin’s sword. He held Midna’s sword by his side and pointed Colin’s at Ilia. “Never would’ve I’d expected you to do this!” he spat.
“That’s not Ilia” coughed Colin.
“What?” asked Link, turning his head to Colin.
“It’s some witch, she’s possessed Ilia, and tricked you into leaving us” he coughed. Midna flew up to him, and took out a red potion. “I suppose that you’re Midna?” he asked, as he took the potion. Midna nodded. “A friend of Link’s is a friend of mine”
“Did you really think this girl could kill everyone, they would’ve overpowered her in seconds” laughed Ilia. She fell over and a dark cloud floated up from her. the cloud formed into a twili woman wearing dark robes and a witch hat. She dropped down in front of Ilia.
“Veran! The ancient twili traitor! It’s because of your actions we were banished into the Twilight Realm” yelled Midna, baring her fangs.
“Do you really think I care? I did this to get revenge against Link” replied Veran.
“I don’t even know you!” yelled Link, pointing both swords at her.
“But, your ancestor did, he killed me and now you’ve paid for that little bastard who killed me” she laughed through an energy ball at Link, throwing him back.
“Uh, you’re so dead!” spat Link, charging at her swinging both swords. Veran jumped over his head and kicked him in the back. Link was sent flying into Fado’s burning house.
“Link!” yelled Midna, while Colin stared in horror. Midna spun round, and glared a soul stabbing glare at Veran. “I’ll kill you, you bitch!” she hissed. She threw an energy ball at Veran. The witch was only forced back by a few inches. She shook her head and laughed.
“Tut, tut,” she laughed “not really good of a princess to have such a temper”. She charged at Midna, who was barely able to dodge. Veran crashed to the ground. “You little sneak!” she roared. Veran’s form began to bubble and grow.
“What the hell?” grunted Colin, who was now on his feet. Both he and Midna stared disgusted at what was happening to Veran. She was now a dark shadowy blob, about four times her normal size. The blob began to grow legs, Veran’s head popped out of the blob. She hissed, spraying venom at the two. Her head span round and stopped looking like a spider head. “Crap” he said.
Midna giggled, Colin looked at her in confusion. “Was that to make you look more beautiful, because it looks like you failed that test” she laughed. She formed another energy ball. “Seen one giant spider, seen them all” she taunted. Veran spat silk at her, sticking her to the ground, the energy ball went flying into the lake. Another silk ball slammed Colin to the ground.
“Time to dine one princess” cackled Veran, scuttling over to Midna and baring her fangs.
“You’re a sick and twisted woman,” spat Midna. Veran put her head towards Midna, move wide open. Suddenly she exploded, and bits of her went flying off in all directions. “Huh?” questioned Midna, she forced her head off the ground, a spiky ball, attached to a chain sat there. At the end of chain was Link, who proceeded to cut Midna and Colin free.
“I’d glad you two are ok” he said hugging Midna to his chest. Colin stood up and walked over to Ilia who had woken up and was staring at the destruction.
“What have I done? They’re all dead, and it’s my fault!” she cried. Link let go of Midna, the two of them walked over to her.
“It’s not your fault” replied Link has he help her to her feet. He pulled out his bow and arrows and passed them to her. “You and Colin have to come with us, it’s too dangerous for us here” he said. Ilia put the quiver over her back and nodded. “Are there any survivors?” he asked.
“No, I remember that witch making me kill everyone except Colin” sighed Ilia looking at the ground to shame.
“It’s not your fault” argued Colin, has he picked up the Ordon Sword up and sheathed it.
“No one could’ve resisted her magic,” comforted Midna “she is a powerful witch, but at least she’s gone now”.
“Don’t think you’ve won yet” hissed Veran’s voice, as the blobs pulled together and reformed her human form. She was bleeding and covered in brushes. No condition to fight. “You got lucky this time, but next time you’re as good as dead!”. She disappeared into black twili squares.
Link and Midna explained to the two the story of the Dark Doomsday. And how Hyrule Field and Castle Town looked the same. “No flames were coming from Kakariko, maybe they and the Goron’s are alright, we should go see them” announced Link. He walked towards the village gates, the others followed. “We’re going to need an army to stand a chance against this threat” he continued.

The four walked towards Kakariko Gorge. A group of moblins lay half dead on the ground. “What happened here?” Midna asked one of them.
“Boss refused to work for evil man, say whole tribe suffered after last work with evil” it replied. It struggled to get to it’s feet, but failed. “Guess we suffer anyway, evil man take tribe, conquer village and mountain, they slaves now” in grunted as it died.
“He wasn’t so evil after all” sighed Link, as Midna floated into the air again. “Look’s like they need our help” he continued as the four continued towards the village.
